To save money, some women have performed their own Botox injections. This is dangerous!
You may recall the story of an Asian woman who injected herself with cooking oil and became permanently disfigured.
Please, just leave the treatments in the competent hands of the experts and do not perform any injectable filler treatments on yourself.

Some quick anti-aging skincare tips:

Wash your face before you go to bed. About 50 of women skip this important step.

Use sunscreen to avoid wrinkles and freckles.

Go nuts! Well, don't go overboard, but eating nuts is good because they contain good (healthy) fats.

Exercise (especially strength training) and Yoga to decrease stress.

Jun 25, Tanning Addiction?

Are you addicted to tanning? Some frequent tanners report mood enhancement, relaxation and social interaction benefits.
I must admit, years ago when I used tanning beds I was always upset when the timer rang and the lights in the bed went dark.
After learning of the dangers of this practice, however, my skincare routine now includes sunless tanning lotion.

Jun 11, Sunless Tan Maintenance

When your sunless tan flakes off it helps to exfoliate using a sugar scrub, loofah, etc. to remove all the dead skin cells. Start anew with a fresh application of sunless tanning cream/spray/mousse, whatever your preference is.
Another sunless skincare tip: Mix your sunless tanning cream with moisture lotion, if it doesn't already contain it. This may help your "fake" tan last longer.

It's best not to fall asleep with your makeup on. Besides staining your sheets and pillowcases, it's also not very good for your skin. No matter the hour, follow your skincare routine and clean your face before you go to bed. Try using a night cream so that it can repair any damage that has occurred during the day while you sleep.

Jun 7, Miracle Melanoma Medication?

Bristol Myers-Squibb has a new experimental drug for the melanoma skin cancer.

Studies showed that it was effective on 2-3 out of every 10 people, but you never know who it will work on.

Ipilimumab, or "ippy" for short supposedly works on stage 3 and even 4 melanomas.

It's a living cell, a protein that attacks disease and stimulates the immune system.

side effects: can trigger rheumatoid arthritis, colitis, inflammation of the kidneys.

Of course, the best cure is prevention. Practice good skincare habits and avoid getting melanoma in the first place.

Electromagnetic fields (EMF) are all around us and they have the ability to cause skin irritation and skin numbness with prolonged exposure.

Household appliances, cellphones, electrical outlets, waterbeds, electric blankets, electric alarm clocks, fluorescent lights, wiring inside walls, computers, overhead power lines and radar all produce dangerous electromagnetic fields and should be avoided whenever possible.

You can invest in a Gauss meter to take readings and see the level of EMF's that you come in contact with. (A Gauss is a common unit of measurement of magnetic field strength.) If you don't want to keep looking at the device to see what the level is, you can get something like this Personal EMF Alarm
which will let you know when you enter an area with high EMF levels.

Spending a fortune on anti-aging products?
Remember that excess sugar intake contributes to premature aging of the skin.
Glucose molecules will attach to protein molecules in your system and damage them, which affects the collagen in your skin and lead to a loss of elasticity. The skin begins to sag and wrinkles form.

Sugar has many other negative effects in addition to skin problems, so keep an eye on your intake.

Jan 11, New Skincare treatment for Melasma

Melasma, or "mask of pregnancy" is a hormonal disorder causing dark patches on the skin. It affects 45 million women worldwide.

A new skincare treatment for this condition is called Fractional Laser Resurfacing and it helps to stimulate collagen production once the laser columns penetrate the skin, causing tiny wounds.

Further treatments are required for maintenance over time, so it's best to avoid getting this condition in the first place. Once you get it, it's hard to get rid of.

Two methods to prevent the onset of Melasma are staying out of the sun and tanning booths, and wearing a sunscreen of at least 30 SPF with a zinc oxide content of 10.
